Hi,

I am the happy owner of a 1825PTZ, now the wear level of the Battery shows 74% and i guess if i the regular recommendation would just be to buy a new Battery.

Yesterday i tried making a battery reset maybe i just didn´t do it right but i was kind of veryfied in my opinion that the wear level is actually a lot less maybe at 50% since after running to 5% the Laptop shut down and i booted up and deactevated the automatic shutdown.

It ran for over 2hrs more!

While indicating 5% charging level, i waited till the battery was empty, that usually should do the job on a hp laptop.

1. How to force a Battery callibration since i propably didn´t dot fully right?

2. I saw the questions while searching before but maybe at this point there is an answer is there a tool to make the charging controller stop at about 80% charge ? My old Galaxy S plus has that with a custom rom...

thanks alot

Philipp

    Hi, Philipp.

Calibrating your battery helps get a proper reading on your current battery charge. If your battery is dying before the reported time given in Windows, it could be that you need to calibrate your battery.

Use the following steps to to re-calibrate the battery:

    1. Turn the notebook or netbook off. Plug in your AC adapter.
    2. Let the unit fully charge, until the battery LED turns off.
    3. Turn on the computer and press the F8 key repeatedly when the first logo screen appears.
    4. In the Windows Advanced Startup menu, select Safe Mode and press the ENTER key.
    5. Unplug the unit and let the computer run on battery until it shuts down.

Note: The process to re-calibrate your battery can take several hours, depending on the battery lifetime and age, and the configuration of your system.

    thanks for the reply

i guess safe mode is mandetory then ?

i got to figure out how to get into that at windows 8, currently i don´t make it to bios or f8 due to win8/ssd upgrade.

There is just no more time to press the keys Smiley Tongue

    Hi Phillip,

In previous versions of Windows, you could enter the advanced boot options by pressing F8. Windows 8 starts up quickly so there is no time to press F8.

There are two ways to enter the Windows Startup Settings screen in Windows 8.

    • If you are not signed in to Windows:
      • Tap or click the power icon from the sign-in screen, hold Shift, and then tap or click Restart.

    • If you are signed in to Windows:
      1. Press the Windows () key + C, or swipe in from the right edge of the screen to open your Charms, select Settings, and then tap or click on Change PC settings.
      2. Tap or click on General.
      3. Under Advanced startup, tap or click Restart now.

    • From the Windows Startup Settings screen:
      1. On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot.
      2. Tap or click Advanced options, then select Startup Settings.
      3. Tap or click Restart.
      4. On the Startup Settings screen, choose the startup option you want.
      5. Sign in to your PC with a user account that has administrator rights.

Is it possible that there is not a full battery callibration like out of security reasons ?

When my laptop was low on battery i did two full discharges now and each one gave about 8% battery wear level back.

Yesterday the laptop was standing for 2hrs at 6% again...

But the now recognized 57% should at least give 2 1/2hrs again.

ha, funny today i also let it run down it´s still stuck on 6 percent for a long time before it goes down and again about 8% wear level back, am at 49% now and started off at 74!

Really doesn´t seem to do a full reset.

I will do let the battery run down more often in the future but i don´t want to stress it just to get the percentage back since the total recharges should stress it more then the seemingly discharges till 30-40%.

After occational resets the wear level is down to 40% and i can work for 4hrs without complaints again, but sure i can still work longer as long is i keep the security shutdowns switched off, which i have to do anyway in case for a battery reset, but it really seems that there is no full callibration in one step possible. Sadly.

I am really sad that there aren´t more convertibles anymore like the acer 1825 pt/z , it starts to age, but still isn´t slow on desktopduty.

Well i will not pay more then 500€ for a new convertible since that´s my limit.

And in kompatible mode i was even able to install the g sensor and it is working to screen rotate!
