DVD playback issues on Acer M5 481 pt

Hello-new Acer owner. Hope I'm posting this in the right place. I'm having trouble getting my notebook to recognize DVDs. I've tried a number of different DVDs and all of them will play eventually. Usually it spins for a little while then nothing happens. I just put one in when I got on this forum and after 10 minutes I saw a message on my screen asking me what I wanted to do with the DVD ( the way I set it up). It then would play on clear.fi movie player. Generally to get them to play I have to load them and eject and retry several times before it will recognize the DVD contents and start to play.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.

    hi...

You may press the Window key + E to open file explorer,  then click on the cd/dvd drive letter and check if you are able to view the files on the disc.

In windows 8, you may play movie disc if your computer has been shipped with Acer clear-fi.

You do not have the option to play movies in media player.

This is because Microsoft removed free DVD playback from Windows 8 due to the costs of licensing the codecs necessary to properly play DVDs.

VLC Player is a free and open source multimedia player that plays most multimedia files as well as DVD, Audio CD, VCD, and various streaming protocols
