netbooks and notebooks

I have had both types of ACER products and liked both of them in the past.

 

However I had a question/issue arise yesterday at a computer store a couple of days ago. I saw some Acer computers labelled as notebooks but which were the size of netbooks.  The salesperson I dealt with kept reiterating that although they were labelled as notebooks they were definitely netbooks in terms of power.

 

I really enjoyed the two netbooks I have owned in the past.. while I use a notebook now it is a bit heavy to lug around and I miss the convenience I had with netbooks.  But I also recognize there were limitations to earlier netbooks.

 

If Acer or any other company manufactured netbook sized computers with notebook power I would be most willing to purchase such a computer (especially if at netbook prices).

 

Please someone tell meif  ACER is marketing netbooks as notebooks or is there a netbook sized computer with notebook power

Sask, I was so surprised by your question that I looked it up. A notebook is a laptop computer that contains an optical drive (for DVD's and CDs). A netbook is a laptop computer that does not contain an optical drive. There actually are a few full-size netbooks, but they don't sell well.

 

There are some powerful netbooks with good video cards and 1 gigabyte of RAM. However, in finding ratings of them, they are generally still less powerful than a notebook.
