Aspire V3722g with 32GB RAM upgrade restarts itself constantly

Yesterday my Aspire V3-722g arrived but I'm having problems with it restarting itself every 5-10 minutes. Sometimes I also get a screen full of distorted colours and it freezes.

I'm hoping it's something simple but I don't know how to isolate the actual problem.

It's this machine with the 32GB RAM upgrade:

My assumption is that there is an issue with a piece of the hardware. I have installed all of the available windows updates to see if that would help but it hasn't.

Please let me know how I can determine the cause or where I can take my laptop to have it fixed. I live in Sydney.

I am also happy to do a factory reset if that might make a difference.

The system uses DDR3L RAM, not DDR3 RAM.

It is quite likely that the RAM you used to upgrade is only DDR3 and is causing issues.

What RAM did you upgrade the system with?

If you have 2 modules with different clock rates - make sure the one with lower clock rate is in the first slot. Smiley Happy

The system is dual-channel capable, so it is never recommended to mix RAM speeds.

    Hi

A lot of people had similar problem with v3-772 (you have a typo in the topic name Smiley Wink ), problem was usually bios v1.11, so they downgraded to v1.08 ( you could download it from official acer website).

    Hope it helps

    Have a nice one...

I didn't upgrade the RAM personally, sorry I should have been more clear. I meant that I opted for the $1 upgrade to the ram when I purchased it from the Acer online store (from 16GB to 32GB).

If the BIOS downgrade could be a solution then I'm happy to give it a try vs waiting for the box that has been sent to me so that I can send it off to get checked out. Would something like that affect the warranty though? This was happening right from unboxing and I haven't been game enough to mess with it.

Hi, read my post about power interrupts with V3 772G. You most probablyy have the same issue. I had a mixed up screen once also. It most probably is a BIOS problem (Acer more or less confirms that, see my posts). BIOS 1.08 is more stable then 1.11 but still not good enough to get rid of the interrupts completely.

My advice: get a refund and buy a new one when the problem is problem is solved or wait and hope for the best.
