Acer Aspire 8943G VGA Port Doesn't Hold Connection

Hi!

I have an AOC monitor functioning as a second screen that works perfectly with my work laptop, which is a Dell. The problem comes when I plug it into my Acer.

My laptop sounds the chime that a device is connected, my laptop screen flickers and the AOC screen comes on but then (sometimes immediately and sometimes 1 minute later) my laptop sounds the chime that a device is disconnected, the AOC screen goes off and I'm back to just my laptop screen. Without provication this happens on an infinite loop until I get fed up and disconnect my AOC monitor for good.

As I said, I don't think the problem is the monitor because it works with my Dell. To try to remedy this, I've installed the drivers straight from AOC for the monitor and I've also installed the latest ATI video drivers for Windows 8. This happens so quick I don't have a chance to check the Device Manager to see if there are any errors.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

It could certainly be a port issue.  To diagnose or repair the issue would require contacting your local service center.
