Acer 5323-BZ893 won't boot with additional 2GB Crucial RAM

Tried to install Crucial 2GB (part # CT25664BF1339A, DDR3 1333 MT/s PC3-10600 CL9 SODIMM 204-Pin 1.35V/1.5V Single Ranked) into my Acer 5323-BZ893 running Windows 7 64-bit on latest BIOS.  System won't boot, HD doesn't even spin.  Won't work on its own, won't work with pre-installed Kingston 2GB module.  I thought it might be defective and exchanged it, but the replacement does the same thing.  What am i doing wrong?

Do you mean a  Acer Aspire 5253-BZ893 ? Didn't it come with 3 GB of memory ? What configuration are you trying to install ? Have you tried reverting to the original configuration ?

It came with a single 2GB Kingston module, which works fine.

Sometimes mixing mfrs can confuse a machine. I'd suggest trying an idential Kingston module if 4GB is enough or a matched pair if you need more.

I have a similar problem with an IBM R51, although the HD does start up.  In my case, it looks as though the motherboard is defective, but it's not worth my while to replace it as it's a second (third) computer for me.  RAM should ideally be compatible with what you have already installed: type (DDR2,3) speed (e.g. 667MHz) and so on, but it looks like you've already confirmed that.  Used to make the stuff, but I'm sorry I can't help you futher...

By the way, is this RAM specified to work with your computer?  I doubt that you are doing anything wrong per se.

My apologies, I was incorrect on the model, it is actually an Aspire 5253-BZ481.  The KIngston re-installed module is model #ACR256X64D3S1333C9.

Yeah, that looks like what I'll end up doing, considering the identical Kingston module is so cheap.  I just wish I would have checked that first Smiley Frustrated
