acer restore failed

I have an acer aspire 5349-2592 running windows 7 that stopped working.  I tried restoring it to it original state.  It went through the whole process fine, then hung up on the (apparently) final step.  It was loading software and would hang up on #41 of 42, loading "clean up".  I purchased a new set of operating set up disk from Acer.  After going through whole process it did the same thing again. No error messages or any thing it just sits there, stuck on the loading software screen at #41 of 42.  Any suggestions?

I tried contacting acer but it s no longer under warrantee and I can’t find a place to talk them about the disk I purchased from them not fixing the problem.

Thanks,

Leninewt

Leni, we want to help you, but we'll need more information. What do you mean when you say that it stopped running? Are you able to start it? Can you get it into Windows?

No I can't get into windows. It starts up fine and says "starting Windows" but as soon as the windows window opens it goes right back to where it was when I turned it of.  First the screen says "setup is preparing your comperter for first use".  Then a screen that says "software installation"  "installing 'cleanup' #41 of 42".  and it just stits there, all night if I leave it running.

Red herring?  Some times for reasons unknown (to me anyway) it will give me a start screen with a little icon that says "Administrator account"  If I click on it it replay "account deleted" !

If a try to start in safe mode it tells me "Windows cannot complete installation in safemode, please restart.

Leni, I researched your problem on the web. One guy said that when he got to the cleanup part, he held down the power button until it shut off, and when he restarted it worked fine. Cleanup refers to your installer removing the temporary files it created during the installation, and that cure MIGHT work.

The most common theory, however, is that you have a hardware problem.

Another cure is to load a borrowed legal copy of Windows and install that, using the key on the sticker on the bottom of your laptop (I don't think you can do that, though).

And my best suggestion is to take it to a computer shop. They often have a legal edition of Windows that can force its way into a computer, and then they give it your registration number.
