My Aspire is acting weird

I've had my Aspire for about 2 years and within the last few months it's started behaving weird. It first started randomly beeping when I put it on my glass dining room table for homework. The random beeps aren't just happening on glass which is what I assume was the problem. They're continuing everywhere. About a month ago upon startup, the Windows 7 format had been wiped making my computer screen look like it had a 10 year old format. I restarted my computer and the Windows 7 format was back. I'm pretty sure it's not a heating problem because I can feel the fan running and it beeps randomly, whether my laptop is hot or not. Any help?

Have you had your hdd checked? Do you have recovery media?

What specific unit do you have? any recent downloads of software?

I haven't had anything checked and it's an Aspire 5742. The only software I recently downloaded was AVG protection and Malware protection programs (they're trustworthy, the family desktop has used them both for years with no problems). I'm really considering a new laptop if I have to go through all this trouble., Thanks for the help.
