Whenever I turn on my m5 it won't boot up as it just shows the Acer Logo for a few seconds and then a black screen where there is only a movable cursor. Please Help Smiley Sad((

I am just going to add my similar problem except my screen is blue. This morning I fired up the computer and got a message that my computer needs to be repaired: "The boot configuration data file is missing some required information." The error code is 0xc0000034. And I need recovery tools on my installation media which I don't have.

So here I am trying to figure out what to do next. I'll poke around some more and see if I can find anything that looks like a solution. I've already emailed Acer support.

Is this a common response from Acer - just got this email reply to my query:

I understand that the system is not booting. That's so unfortunate.

Please be informed that it might be an issue with the hardware.

In order to resolve this issue, we can schedule the unit for repair.

The inbound shipping and handling charges while sending the unit to our repair facility has to be borne by you.

The normal turn around repair time for any unit is 7-10 business days from the date the product is received. This depends on the availability of parts and service volume.

Component replacement costs associated with this repair will be covered, aside from exceptions outlined within our limited warranty (this would include damages caused by misuse, abuse, accidents, etc.) examples of this includes cracked LCD, liquid spills etc.

Once your unit is received, it will be inspected for damage. In the event your product appears to have damage that is not covered by warranty, you will be contacted by our service facility requesting a method of payment to be provided. If this is not provided, your system will be returned un repaired and you will not be eligible for service of the item until payment is received.

I just bought this unit at Best Buy earlier in the year and should be able to return it - but seriously... there surely must be some way to handle this here and without losing a work day.

    Thanks,

I did take someone's advice here in some thread and ask the question on their FB page and had a nice conversation with a rep in my inbox. They are sending me a recovery disc via Fedex so I'll update after I receive it and try to handle it this way.
