Just bought the Acer Aspire AM3970-ur14p

I just purchased this machine & powered it up for the first time today.  Problem is, no display to my monitor.  I'm using a DVI-d cable..it's a new cable.  I've been using the Acer monitor for some time, but not with the dvi-d cable, rather with the older VGA cable.  I talked with a technician and he arranged to have the computer shipped back.  I'll try to find another monitor and cable to verify that the monitor connector and the cable are ok.  Any thoughts on this problem?

 

Also,  I notice that if turn the computer off, unplug the power supply, and then plug in the power supply, the computer starts on its own. Has anybody else noticed this behaviour?:

I just solved my own problem:  The DVI-d cable I purchased is single link.  I tried a dual link version and all is well.
