Acer Iconica W3-810 - weak wifi signal - fix

Hi All,

I've bought the Acer Iconica W3-810 yesterday and notice that wifi signal was going to between 1 and 2 bars max and I was in the same room as the router.

All other devices in room run at 5 bars.

I fixed it by:

(Make sure you backup your Acer Iconica W3-810 Windows 8 system and data files first, before continuing just to be safe.)

- ensuring all Windows 8 updates were downloaded, installed and rebooted device

- I went to Acer Website, and downloaded the file Others_Acer_1.00_W8x86_A.zip from the driver area

- Extracted contents, ran setup.exe and rebooted device.

Wifi signal is at 5 bars.

What version of the driver is it showing please ? I am showing 5.93.97.113. Had already updated the WiFi.

Did the -A update. Not certain exactly what it did other than it seemed to flash the BIOS. Same WiFi driver.

May have more bars but speedtest is the same. Connecting an external monitor still kills spped.

Big difference whether tab is vertical or horizonal (standing up & edge on to router is much better) so is quite directional.

I have the same issue with the WiFi signal being weak but cannot find the driver Others_Acer_1.00_W8x86_A.zip on the Acer webiste.

Can you give me the link/URL of where it is please.

- Go to www.acer.co.uk

- select Support menu

- scroll down to Drivers and Manuals part of page

- Under 'Search by Product Model' type in w3-810

- Press Search button

- Information for w3-810 will appear

- Select the Driver button

- the following details appear and select Download and options for file 'Others_Acer_1.00_W8x86_A.zip' will appear

Hi padgett

Driver version is the same.

When I go to the windows device manager, go to the properties of wireless adaper and the events tab I do see additional info for the date I re-installed drivers.
