Hello,

I bough an Acer v3 571 i7 Win8 notebook. Exactly this model:

The problem is that the USB 2.0 ports are not working. USB 3.0 port on the left is working fine.

In device manager all the USB host controllers are displayed as working. I tried uninstall and let the reinstall. Still not working. I tried connecting 2 different flash drives and 1 USB head set. Using the update application pre-installed, I installed the only update displayed, for Wi-FI.

Thank you for helping me out

I tried to debug this more. I noticed the ports are powered, if I connect an optical mouse or a device it starts charging. If I connect a smartphone, for eg, it detects a PC at the other end and goes into data transfer/storage mode but on the PC nothing is found.

Tried with a bootable cd, safe mode. USB 3.0 works fine, but the 2.0 are dead silent. I updated the BIOS to the latest version 2.15, because a lot of people say there are different options regarding USB but I see none.
