I've read the Knowledge Base instructions about restoring my Acer computer to original settings, but I have a related question - I added a second hard drive, doubled the RAM and added a BluRay drive to the machine since it was new, do I need to remove all of those things before I run system recovery?  If the answer is yes, concerning the ram, orignally it was 4 banks of 2 gig each which I replaced with 4 banks fo 4 gigs each, can I simply get the ram back to 8 gigs (2 times 4 gig) or do I have to actually re-install the original 2 gig ram strips?

No, you do not need to remove any of those items in order to run the recovery.

Drives will just be detected and added as normal and the amount of RAM does not make a difference for recovery.
