How to keep HDMI TV connected

I'm using my Aspire 5741Z-5433 with my Samsung HD TV. I want to keep the laptop closed and am controlling it with a wireless keyboard/touchpad. I have no trouble setting it up with HDMI only as the viewing option.

However, when I put the laptop in sleep mode the TV disconnects it automatically, I can't get the TV connection back when I take the laptop out of sleep mode. It goes back to the laptop display and I can't get it back to the TV without opening the laptop and using the local Fn/F5 to reselect the TV.

Is there a way to force the laptop to only use the HDMI mode and not use the local screen?

It is a notebook, meant to be a portable computer and to have an LCD screen attached and available.

It would not be recommended to attempt to remove/disconnect the internal LCD.

The system will look for the built in LCD on boot.  That is by design.

You would still likely need to open the system and press Fn+F5 to change to the external video device.

    No, there is not.

That would leave the system in a state where you may not be able to use the system at all without connecting an external device.

I understand. But, I don't see that as a problem when it is only used with an external device.

I'm just tired of opening my laptop to press the fn/F5 everytime I use it.

Would the laptop still run and find the external monitor if I unplug the LCD screen from the motherboard? That was going to be my next experiment.
