Can't seem to access BIOS on Aspire M3970

My M3970 boots first to the hard drive.  I want to change the boot sequence to boot to cd drive first then hard drive.  When I power on the desktop it goes straight to the windows start up.  The Acer logo screen never appears.  I have tried powering on and pressing F2, del, ..... but never get the BIOS screen to appear.  I'm sure I'm doing something wrong and it's an easy solution but can't seem to find it anywhere in the forums.  Thanks for your help.

When the Acer splash screen comes up as the system starts, there should be instructions at the bottom of the screen.

Pressing Delete repeatedly when this screen appears should bring you into the BIOS.

What operating system is currently loaded on the system?

That's just it, the Acer splash screen never appears.  When you turn it on the screen is black until the Windows logo appears.

It is running Windows 7.  I've tried holding down several keys at the same time as it boots up but that doesn't do anything either.  I'm thinking I may need to just disconect the hard drive and power it on.

As soon as you turn it on, start tapping the Delete key, regardless of what is on the screen.

Don't hold it, but tap it fairly rapidly.
