How do I transferr files from my A500 tab to a installed thumb drive?

With your Explorer/File Manager.

If you don't like the basic one, you can find it on Play Store.

Thanks for the reply Philman. My file explorer doesn't show my thumb drive allthough it IS recognized by the device, am I missing something?

It depends of your Android version, but external drives are in Removable folder.

good evening Philman,sorry it took so long to get back with you. First let me thank you for wanting to help with my file transferring problem. now, I am just now getting back to my tablet and have discovered that my file explorer (File explorer HD) does not have a removable folder to choose from. is it possable that my particular tablet doesn't support file transfer via flash drive?

I use Root Explorer and all my devices are root, so it's maybe a little bit different.

I don't know Fille Explorer HD, but in the left panel you have a list of shortcuts. One of them is "storage". Tap on it and you must see your external SDCard (hope you have one!!!).

Another way: use the up buttom (green up arrow) until you come up at the root of your device. You must have a folder call Removable. Open it and there is your SDCard in.

On older version of Android, external SDCard was call external_sd or sdcard or mnt or emmc or storage (last three on Cyanogen Mode).

Last chance: with the search function of File Explorer try to find your file.

Any thoughts on how to access the external SD on an A700?  The tablet indicates SD card inserted but after trying several file managers I still am frustrated in trying to move any file to the external SD.  Do I need to initialize it in some way?

 

As a side note, the app to SD app that worked flawlessly on an older tablet shows as incompatible on the A700.

newtab, I'm using OL FILE MANAGER on my A500 now (as opposed to the stock file manager), it works great. I'm not sure if you have tried it yet but you might want to give it a go.

Thanks, Gilgamish.  I have tried several file managers, including OI File Manager but I will now try OL File Manager and see if that helps.

 

I also have a weird error with the camera.  I set it to save to SD card.  The tablet shows SD card inserted but the camera will not shoot; camera gives a message saying to insert SD card even when home screen shows SD card inserted.

I have yet to hear of such a problem, perhaps your AS card is defective. Try switching out the card for a new one and see if that helps. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
