How can set wifi "Off" as default when the computer boot but no disable the wireless adaptor

In the usage of in-flight situation may not be suitable that the wifi of computer is default "On" when it boot. I try to search the way to change the default as wifi "Off" but no luck. It seem like most of people will disable the wireless adaptor. I'm not the IT person, but I wondered whether there is any way that change the registry of wireless adaptor or launch manager will set wireless adaptor default is power "Off" but not disable the wireless adaptor. Because I have owned Aspire 1690 and Aspire One before, both can actually be wireless adaptor power off as default when boot and I can turn it on when I needed by using Fn+F3 or Launch manager button.

Hoping you can provide solution.

Have you attempted to use Launch Manager or the Power Schemes to turn it off?

You do not list a notebook model or an operating system on which you are attempting this.

Sorry for forgetting list the model and OS.

Aspire 5950G and using Windows 7 Home.

Of course I can use launch manager to turn off the wireless, this will able to apply after the laptop completely "on" that mean the wireless is also already "on". In this case will cause portentially safety issue if I switch on the laptop on the plane during flying. Because when 5950G switched on, the wifi will be set "on" as the default. I just want to find out whether there is any to change the default setting of wifi as "Off" intead when turn on the machine.

Of course can disable the wireless adaptor, then I need to enable and disable everytime I want to use wireless and finsih using. I have owned Aspire 1690 and Aspire One, both are no need to disable the wireless adaptor, all I need to just use the wireless button to switch on the wireless. I feel it is much more making sense that the wireless on stand-by and just switch it on whenever is needed to power up the wireless.

Well i have a switch on mine Acer Aspire 6920 that i can just press to turn off the WIFI

on 5950G there is a button (I guess lauch manager button) that function to switch on and off the wifi and bluetooth. It can be acted as power "on" or "off" of wifi, but the problem is the machine will not store the wifi status when it switch off. Therefore the wifi will be "on" when the machine is switched on next time. I guess it's possible to change the setting of registry either on wireless adaptor or setting of launch manager then the wifi will be "off" when the machine switching on as default. I'm not IT guy therefore I try to look for help here.

There are many airlines which are beginning to offer in-flight WiFi services.

I'm not sure that you need to be overly concerned that your wireless is on, or what the "safety issue" that you bring up is.

I had the same issue, and have found the solution - no registry editing is required. It seems that if any of your wireless network profile(s) setting was set to "connect automatically when this network is in range", then Launch Manager will automatically and intelligently set the wifi to ON upon start-up. If you disable all your network profiles setting to "manually connect", then upon start-up, your wifi will automatically be set to OFF. To set to "manually connect", go to Open Network and Sharing Center --> click on Manage Wireless Networks --> for all your network profile(s) that has "Automatically Connect" showing, click on it and disable the check box "connect automatically when this network is in range". Upon re-starting your computer, your Launch Manager wifi setting will now be set to OFF.
