Aspire 5733Z Won't Turn On

I am writing this for my niece.  She has an Aspire 5733Z Model PEW71.  She was using it at school today and the screen went black.  Now it won't turn on.  I've had her take the battery out and plug it into the wall and hold the power button for 5 seconds and it does nothing.  I then had her jiggle the power cord on the laptop side and still nothing.  Just for grins and giggles I had her try different outlets in her apartment and still the same result.

 

Has anyone else had a similar issue and what did you do to fix it?  It is definitely out of warranty as it is between 2 and 3 years old.

It could be the mainboard or the power board in the system.  There is no way for me to diagnose the system on the Community.  My only recommendation would be to contact your local Acer service center for options.

We took it to a local computer guy and it's dead.  Unfortunate as this laptop was less than 3 years old.  It's the last Acer that anyone in our family purchases and I will recommend that friends and other family members do the same.  My old DELL is 7 years old and still kicking.  Acer - 2 years and DEAD.
