Acer aspire e1 571 with intel graphics chip, malfunctioning

I bought this laptop 3 days ago, on a roadtrip. Its a bit far away, to go back to return it.

The problem started the second day of use.

It occurs most often when playing videos with windows media player, but sometimes when playing a game or just surfing the web.

The screen freezes up completely, and is distorted, with pixeled stripes running horizontally, and a screaming sound occurs at the same time, as if both the graphics chip and the soundchip chrashes.

The laptop is totally frozen, and the only way to end it, is to physically shut down the laptop by holding down the powerbutton.

Ive scanned the harddrive, made a complete system recovery, updated all drivers and so on.

the only thing Ive done with it myself, is changed mcafee for avast, removed norton online backup, and installed steam.

Wich all work perfectly on my other laptop.

I fear its a hardware malfunction, probably the GPU-chipset?  But I´m posting this anyways, hoping for a fix.

Sincerely//Dennis

Acer will honor its warranty, but they might want it returned closer to where you bought it. Yes, it is a hardware problem, and it sounds like more than one.

Yeah, i figured as much. Ive already been on the phone with the company that sold it to me, and theyve cleared it for me, so I can leave it at the closer store. Its the same franchise. Its just that its an outgoing model, and I fear they wont have any more of it in store. So, I´ll probably have to upgrade and pay more. Thats why I figured I´d give it a shot here first. =)

Thanks anyway, for confirming what I already thought.
