ProDock turns off my computer

Just hooked up my 8473T to the ProDock.  I want to keep my computer on thru the nite for backup and scan purposes, and have set the Acer to do so.  But in the morning the Dock has orange and blue lights instead of 2 blue.  When I touch the Dock's on button, I get the 2 blue lights and have to login again to my computer.  Is the computer running all night or not?  Thanks in advance.

You can set the monitor to turn off in Power Settings. You also need to turn off the Sleep Function.

It is possible that your rig is entering sleep mode or hibernation. Check the Power Settings in Control Panel.

I had it set to sleep after 1 hr as well as display off in one hour, but to never shut down.  I changed it to never sleep, kept other settings the same.  Since there were no instructions with the dock other than how to connect, I wasn't sure.  Does the orange light mean it's gone to sleep, and that requires me to log on again?  Thanks.

Okay, this MIGHT be what is happening. Your laptop did not turn off; it went to sleep. Your rig requires that you login with a password when it comes out of sleep. If you are using Windows 8, this is always necessary, although it can be turned off.

Thanks for your help. I have Win 7.  Does that make any difference?  What I want is to not run my display all the time, but I want my computer to run so that backups can occur.  A backup last night seemed to have stalled until I woke it up and logged back in and restarted the backup.  I don't want to have to do that every morning.
