Aspire V3 - 731 touchpad no longer functioning

I was setting up an email account for school when my pointer quit responding 

i cannot move my mouse or click at all. whats going on with this? this laptop is only about a month old and this happens


This OS is Windows 8 and the touchpad device in this laptop is ALPS, Version 8.100.2020.116.  plugged into PS/2 mouse port

 

i checked through my control panel and it says this device is working fine and does not need to be updated. i also attempted to reinstall the driver through Acer Recovery Management but it did not work

please help, acer community =(

    Did you try to do this holding fn then press f7 i guest your touchpad was disabled....
