The manual states as below:-

If it is not already enabled, you must enable the

F12 Boot Menu and once enabled and saved:-

During startup, press <Fn> + <=> to open the boot menu. The boot menu allows you to select which device to start from, select the USB drive. Use your arrow keys to select USB Device, then press Enter.

I have successfully enabled F12 and after pressing F12(Fn+=) only the windows boot menu is displayed with no selection option.

I will be obliged if Acer community member can help by step-by-step instructions as to how I obtain a boot menue selecting usb drive to boot from.

Thanks for help

Boot Mode UEFI is where you were getting it wrong. You have to set it to Legacy to boot from USB drive and restore your backup, changing it back to UEFI to boot back to Windows (according to Acer).

Your USB flash is bootable however it doesn't contain your actual backup files (drive image). If you made your USB drive bootable after backing up to it, well, your backup is gone, as in the process of making a USB flash drive bootable the drive is wiped.

I would suggest to update your Bios as well, here's latest (2.15) direct download.

You've done it correctly but your flash drive isn't recognized us bootable media. Corrupted? Did you used Acer Recovery Management tools to make a recovery drive?

The flash drive was fully recognised under normal computer operation and was also created on this machine.

Thanks for quick response which is appreciated.

    Your welcome.

What I was trying to say was that bios doesn't recognizing it as a bootable media not that it's physically broken. I would format it to fat32 and then try to make a new restore drive.

Thanks for your kind interest. I tried other bootable usb drives but none helped. I would like to give some details if that will be of use.

USB boot drive which was created after imaging the whole disc as required by the system and contains the following:-

One Folder which has got to files:-

    bzimage and initrd.qz

    The other two files are:-

    grld and menu.lst

This one also on press ing F12 showed only windows boot menu.

The one which I tried first was not the above but a different one.

If we look at Boot Manager Screen available after F2

    Insyde H2O setup utility

    System Bios 2.09

Under MAIN the F12 boot menu is shown as enabled.

Using arrow key moving right Boot menu. This shows as below:-

    Boot Mode UEFI

    Secure Boot Disabled

    1.USB HDD

    2.Windows Bootmeenu

    3. HDD

    4.Network bootIPV4

    5.USB CD Rom

    6.Network boot IPV6

Selecting the Boot Mode UEFI and pressing enter key shows two options UEFI and Boot. If selecting this boot it boots from the drive which was not previously possible by using F12. The computer booted and I was able to achieve what I was doing at that time.

The above was done my son who has good knowledge of computers to solve the issue I was facing with the USB drive.

Please look into this and advise accordingly.

    Thanks once again.

    Regards
