I have an Aspire 1 Netbook Model AOD270 running Windows 7 Starter.
I rarely use the webcam, but when I did recently I got an offer to upgrade the application. Like a fool, I accepted. After the upgrade, the webcam application disappeared. I did the following:
1. Restored Windows to the time before the webcam app upgrade, but the webcam software was still missing.
2. Went to Acer's eRecovery Management program and attempted to restore Crystal Eye Webcam software v1.5. The re-install failed because I needed to have Windows Media Player 11 installed.
3. Tried to install Windows Media Player 11, but it can't be done with with Windows 7 starter edition.
So, there it is in a nutshell, I'm screwed. Every version of Crystal Eye Webcam software needs Windows Media Player. Somehow, the webcam used to work without WMP before I stupidly agreed to the upgrade.
Any suggestions? Is there alternative webcam software available?
P.S. There are no webcam drivers available (I've checked) and I've downloaded the webcam software from Acer and it won't install for the reasons above.
Thank you for your time and attention.
