Overheating

My Acer laptop has recently started heating up to considerable temperatures in use (just watching videos and general web browsing) to the point in which it automatically turns off. I now have to lift the bottom constantly while having a fan directed at it. This is not easy it achieve and is hard to keep going for long periods of time. The laptop is around 4 years old. What do you recommend?

Probably your internal fan is broken or clogged with dust. You can try blowing a burst of compressed air into the exit vent of your fan, but you're probably going to have to take it to a repair shop. Have no fear; it won't cost you a fortune.
