Cannot press both mouse buttons simultaneously on V3-771G-6485

I have a V3-771G-6485 notebook running Windows 8 and noticed(while playing an FPS) that I cannot press both mouse buttons on the Elan Smart Pad simultaneously.

For example, if I am pressing and holding down on the right mouse button it does not register when I press the left button, even if I tap on the touchpad instead of pressing the physical button.

I've tried updating the drivers and changing various options in the Smart Pad options but nothing seems to fix it.

Searching online I've found other people with different laptops brands having the same problem and the only fix mentioned is to uninstall the Elan drivers and let it be recognized as a standard PS/2 mouse and then it works fine but doing so will leave me unable to use the multitouch features so I want to only do that as a last resort.

Does anybody know of any fix for this?

Sounds completely normal to me. Rarely will you need to press both buttons in that order. Usually you would drag left to select a text and then you have the option of hitting the right button, but from my experience most people let go first and then do it. Even on my computer I'm using right now I'm not able to click them both starting from the right. I just tried it on an HP desktop computer with an external mouse and same thing, not able to do it.

To be sure I tried it on an Aspire 5750 and a V5 and same exact thing. This doesn't seem to be a pc issue, more that it just can't be done.

It can be done, as I mentioned other people got around this problem by replacing their Elan Smart Pad driver with standard PS/2 mouse drivers.

As I mentioned I noticed it while I was playing an FPS where right click is zoom/scope and left click is shoot/throw so yes, in that situation it is important to be able to do that.

Searching a little more I read about people replacing the Elan-specialized drivers with standard Synaptics drivers for different issues so maybe I'll try that and see if that works.

I think I see what you're saying now. It's in most windows based software that you can't, I had thought in terms of say a text document. Here's a question though, have you tried eliminating the factory mouse software entirely? That would allow the game itself to take full control of your input settings.

Uninstalling the Elan drivers and installing the Synaptics drivers lets me press both buttons but now I have no touch pad settings, just settings for the two mouse buttons.
