"A flap on the bottom of the notebook grants access to the hard disk, the RAM and the WLAN module. The fan cannot be reached. The laptop has two RAM slots, both of which are occupied (2 x 4 GB). The user cannot upgrade this further as the laptop supports a maximum of 8 GB RAM. The installed hard disk can be easily swapped out. Simply take out the hard disk, put in the new one in the hard disk cage and put the screws back in. You are done."

However, this might be a different version of the V3-551G, so I'm including the link http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Acer-Aspire-V3-551G-10468G50Makk-Notebook.82145.0.html

Sorry I think I should have been more clear. I know how to change it although the processor states it can take 8gb of ram, although some ppl with the same computer have 16gb so idk if mine can take it also.

It works with 16GB, and I've seen it done on so many laptops...

Mine doesn't work though. I updated the BIOS and now I can't get it working. I used the G.Skill.

If you try it, use a different brand.

The processor doesn't support 8GB, it supports 16GB.

However, I think the BIOS allocates memory to the onboard graphics card using the memory address range and it takes the memory range and it see's that it is too less and just crashes. I have tested the RAM successfully but can't get it into loading Windows. It see's the 16GB in the BIOS.
