Hi. I need to try to get my Acer 5315 connecting wirelessly to internet. Okay, first things first: I cannot see any wireless adaptor in Device Manager.  I'm running windows XP. Should I be seeing a wireless adaptor in Device Manager? Thanks.

Okay: I just put in a HDD that came with the 5315. That has Vista installed. My laptop works wirelessly with this HDD. I can turn wireless connectivity on or off, with the first button on the top row of buttons on the laptop. What I've gone and done is get another HDD, and put XP Professional on it. So, it must me a software issue.  I see that normally, in Device Manager, you should see under Network Adapters "Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter". So, I think I'm missing the AR5007EG drivers that work with XP.  Don't know how to get them.

Fantastic! Many thanks. Now I'm getting communication between 5315 and my wireless hub.  Just a bit more work required I think. Will need to use Wireless Network Wizard.

Again thanks. Just saying that in fact, once I installed the drivers and made sure I got the right passwords for my wireless hub, I was able to connect without doing anything else. I don't think I actually used the XP's Wireless Network Setup Wizard. So, I'm now using my 5315 wirelessly. Which is great.
