I have an Acer Aspire V5-571 Series Notebook and for some reason when i try to shut the machine down, it does shut down but almost immediately starts up again without any help from myself! The only way i can shut down the machine is to hold down the power button.

Also, could someone tell me where i can find the specs of this notebook?

Aspire V5-571 - 32368G50Mass

Model No. MS2361

Thanks all

Dough-nut, here´s some specs, and then I have some good news:

The Acer Aspire V5 series is designed to provide thin and light computing experience at an affordable price. Despite being relatively thin, the $600 Aspire V5-571 packs an Intel Core i5 processor, 6GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive. The specs might not be as impressive as the latest Ultrabooks, but the V5 delivers some decent hardware for the price. This notebook features a 15-inch display with 1366x768 resolution and a range of Intel processors and graphics options.

    Quick Specs

Screen Size: 15.6-inches Processor: Intel Core i5-3317U Graphics: Integrated Intel HD

And here's the good news: PROBABLY you only have a software problem. Go to Control Panel and select Power Options. On the left side, find the spot that tells the power buttons what to do. Set them the way you want. If this doesn´t help, post again and tell us what you are doing to shut down.
