Laptop hibernates without low battery notification

Hi All,

 

I own an Acer Aspire V5 571G and lately whenever the battery reacches around 12 to 15% charge, it hibernates on its own without giving any low battery notification. And when I plug the charger and turn my laptop back on, the battery shows 5% charge. I have no idea where the remaing 7 to 10% of the charge went!

 

I tried formatting my system thinking it would rectify the problem but it was of no use. I took it to the authorised Acer service centre here and they formatted the OS and updated the BIOS. The problem was gone for a while but it came back after about 2 weeks.

 

The options in the advanced power options are all correct ie: low battery notification: ON, low battery level: 10%, reserve battery level: 7%.

 

Any suggestions? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I don't really see this as a problem to be concerned about.  Your V5 monitors the battery voltage with an unknown accuracy. I suggest that you set the low battery warning to 20% and see if that works a bit better. You should be using it plugged in to the charger whenever possible - ie keep your battery at a high level.

If that doesn't work, learn to live with it.
