I often stay in places (Disabled Care Homes) which have WI-FI available but only in a few specific areas!!  The Quality of the Wi-Fi is abysmal to put it politely; I think it's an antiquated poorly maintained system!  Is there any booster or range extender device which I can purchase and use near poor Wi-Fi which will help boost my signal and so provide me with a connection to the internet?   Please Help , Thanks. The problem is two-fold. To boost a WiFi signal reliably you need to boost both sides. It's no good to receive a boosted signal if you can't also boost the reply. The easiest (and most legal) boost is with a better antenna. Each 3dB gain in the antenna doubles the signal. Hence the second problem, the antenna on your tablet is internal, and can't be easily changed. I wouldn't be surprised to discover that the antennas are not well connected, and partially blocked by the case and anti-EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interferance) measures inside the case.
