Can I delete Acer files & folders?

After HD crash and reinstall of all programs I find that a number of the Acer programs no longer work. These include:

Acer Tour and eRecovery

I have decided that since Acer will no longer provide support for my Extensa 4420 an since eRecovery and other Acer software does not work I can free up 30+ GB of HD space by deleting Acer Assist,  Acer Inc, Empowering Technology folder, Mobility Center folder, Acer Tour folder, Acer Assist folder, PQSERVICE partition.

Am I missing somehting about these programs that I don't know, such as they serve some purpose?

I typically gut all the bloatware out of my PC's with no issues.

You should be alright uninstalling all the software.

I cannot speak for the partition, as that would be platform specific, and I am not sure what Acer did there. (More than likely it wont be an issue...and if you break it, you can just reinstall)

there is no way to reinstall PQSERVICE partition if you delete it, other than service

it contains the recovery information for ALT F10 eRecovery

Exactly right, if you're really interested in deleting it all I would suggest burning a copy of your recovery disks before deleting the partition. Chances are the erecovery still works, or at least the ALT F10, which still uses the partition. At least keep a copy just in case anything goes wrong at a later date.

    Thanks for replies.

RE Acer files & folders.  I will delete them. I have copies of the drivers needed for my Extensa and since many of the Acer specific files like Acer Tour do not run or work I see no reason to clog up my HD with defective software and Acer is not interested in helping me fix their broken programs.

RE Alt-F10 and PQSERVICE partition. The program eRecovery does not reinstall the needed system files. I previously bought the recovery CDs and while one of those CDs is non functional I have still developed the needed work around to do a complete reinstall to the laptop. I did burn 2 DVD with all the files & folders in the hidden partition but not sure if I would ever want to go back to 2007 configuration as it takes 3 - 4 days and 20+ hours of download & install all the programs and updates needed. Once everything is cleaned up I will delete the Acer partition and recover the 30+GB of storage. I will be cloneing the HD and that will be my disaster recovery plan as it will save the days and hours of downloading and updating to the current state.

I will be doing weekly back-up of all file changes and keeping at least 3 rolling copies with one of those stored off site. Will probably do a partition clone every 4th week keeping 2 or 3 rolling copies of the full partition copy.

The Extensa works for what I need. I can't find a small laptop at reasonable price and I have a 64 bit Win7 desktop for any heavy duty computing.

    Again thanks for the replies.
