Need Recovery Discs

I need recovery discs for Aspire T180 desktop with Vista Basic.  The owner either lost or didnt make her own discs and the software does not work. IF there was a recovery partition it no longer works. The website says "No RCD available for the entered Serial Number".  How can I recover this system?

This machine is older than my Acer, which I purchased in 2009 and I get the "No RCD available for the entered Serial Number" when my snid is entered as well.  I hope this is a mistake.  Please help.

Sorry if I didnt make myself clear, but I already did that.  In fact I entered the snid for the machine I am working on PLUS I entered the snid for my own Acer desktop (4 years old) and get the "No RCD available for the entered Serial Number" statement. I entered both Serial Numbers as well, get the same thing.

So I decided to call Acer.  Was told the machine is older than 3 years so Acer does NOT OFFER RECOVERY DISCS FOR MACHINES OVER 3 YEARS OF AGE.  Can you believe that?  99% of the machines I work on are Vista and of those NOT a single owner made those recovery discs.  And on most the recovery partition (if there is one) doesnt work. I follow the instructions I find on-line here and cannot make it work.  (Most but not all I rememer one recovery partition that did work-Acer brand).

I work on computers because I enjoy it. And because of that friends ask me what to buy when they are ready. Often I recommend Acer.  I own two myself. But no more. I will not buy nor will I recommend them if the owners cannot even purchase the recovery discs from Acer. Basically Acer is saying there IS NO support beyond 3 years (aside from these forums).

I can, however, purchase recovery discs from ACER competition ANYtime.  One of the leading manufacturers GIVES them to you!  The other leading manufacturer sells them for a few dollars.

Shame on ACER.  That is no way to treat your customers.

    Hi mlure and welcome!

You could start you search for the proper recovery disks at the Acer Store.  Check the eRecovery section.

    Hope that helps.
