I recently uninstalled HP printer and ever since on starting up my Acer notebook I get a panel headed "RunDLL" saying ' There was a problem starting C:/program files/HP/ HPDeskjet 3070 B611 series/bin/HP staus BL.dll'. How do I remove this error message?

Click: Start > All programs > start up

If an HP printer entry is in your start up, then right click and delete it.

If nothing is there, you could use RegEdit to search for and delete any reference to 'HP status BL.dll' in the registry.
(Don't use RegEdit unless you are sure you understand it and the registry else you could destroy Windows. Use at your own risk!)

Thanks for your reply. However, there is no HP printer in the Start menu and there was no indication in the registry of any reference to the 'missing' file. Is it not more likely that some programme which runs on start-up needs amending to remove any reference to this file? If so, what programme?

It could be a program but is more likely a service.

From the start button, type msconfig in the search pane.
    This will run 'System Configuration'
Under the 'Startup' tab, look for 'Monitor Ink Alerts'
If present, clear the tick box.
From the entry you can find it's path and delete it.

You could also search the registry and remove any references.

Look at your services to see if you can find 'Monitor Ink Alerts' or similar.
If it is present and you can *positively identify it*, you should delete this too.
Be careful you don't delete a wrong service!!

    To do this:
Open command prompt (run as administrator) and type

    sc delete "ServiceName"

Hopefully that should be the end of it!

Thanks for that, but as I have a new Epson printer, would deleting 'Monitor Ink Alerts' affect the new printer?

No. 'Monitor Ink Alerts' is HP only. Epson have their own (StatusMonitor I think).
