Re: Fan Issue on Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-71), Need help Identifying left fan and replacement options
Generic fans may share the same plug and wire layout, but that doesn’t mean they’ll perform identically. All modern Acer laptops, including the PHN16-71, rely on BIOS-level EC (Embedded Controller) protocols to regulate fan speed and thermal response. If the replacement fan lacks the correct firmware handshake or RPM feedback profile, it may spin erratically, fail to ramp under load, or trigger BIOS errors.
The PHN16-71 uses a specific GPU fan with EC-compliant signaling. Substituting with a generic unit—even if it physically fits—can compromise thermal performance and system stability. Physical compatibility ≠ firmware compliance.

Zandparts ships worldwide and is one of Acer’s largest authorized distributors. Their catalog is based directly on Acer’s OEM inventory, and they’ve consistently supplied verified components for PHN16-71 and other models—even when Acer’s own documentation is limited.
A Canadian outfit once mirrored Zandparts’ listings but is no longer active. Zandparts remains the most reliable source for genuine parts, with global reach and direct Acer endorsement.
For the exact GPU fan (23.QLTN7.001) for PHN16-71, here’s the verified listing: https://www.zandparts.com/en/product/acer-23-qltn7-001
Let’s keep the focus on practical sourcing and verified support. Happy to assist with teardown steps or thermal paste tips if needed.

Hi Kiriko,
- “Generic” type replacement fans often do not communicate properly with the EC (Embedded Controller) in the BIOS, which can result in poor or inconsistent fan control.
- I strongly recommend sourcing the original Acer fan to ensure correct speed regulation and thermal performance.
- Zandparts in Sweden is a major distributor and recognised authority for exclusively original Acer spare parts. They can supply the exact fan specified for your model.

Re: Fan Issue on Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-71), Need help Identifying left fan and replacement options
For reference: the GPU fan part number 23.QLTN7.001 is listed by Zandparts under the PHN16-71 category, not just the PHN16-72. The listing is based on Acer’s OEM inventory and matches the fan layout used in PHN16-71 teardown photos. https://www.zandparts.com/en/product/acer-23-qltn7-001
While Acer’s public documentation doesn’t always list fan part numbers per sub-model, verified suppliers like Zandparts often fill that gap with direct sourcing.

Re: Fan Issue on Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-71), Need help Identifying left fan and replacement options
asimkhan, just some additional information and something that you should be aware of with your model PHN16-71-xxxx heatsink, cpu and gpu components, as I've got extensive experience with upgrading ram, M.2 and changing the paste on this specific model that I also own.
Be aware that Acer does NOT list any specific Acer part numbers for the cpu/gpu fan for the model PHN16-71 laptop, they do list these cpu/gpu fan Acer part numbers for the one up model the 14th Gen model PHN16-72 and the fan link given above, is for the PHN16-72 and it could be that they don't fit, as the PHN16-71 and 72 models have different thermal modules and Acer part numbers like shown below.
I would suggest that the best option to change the gpu fan of your PHN16-71 laptop is to look at the part number and type of fan written on the oem gpu fan that your PHN16-71 model has and don't rely on Acer part numbers from other models. Good luck and hope this assists you further.

Re: Fan Issue on Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-71), Need help Identifying left fan and replacement options
Hi asimkhan, Thanks for the detailed post. Based on your model (Predator Helios Neo 16 PHN16-71), the left-side fan is indeed the GPU fan. The symptoms you described — noise, intermittent failure, and needing to tilt the unit — strongly suggest the bearing has degraded, likely worsened by the use of WD-40 contact cleaner. These fans use sealed bearings and aren’t designed for consumer lubricants, even “no residue” types.
The correct GPU fan part number is 23.QLTN7.001, and it’s available from Zandparts as an original-quality replacement: https://www.zandparts.com/en/product/acer-23-qltn7-001
Zandparts also stocks the CPU fan for this model, typically listed separately. If you're considering replacing both, it’s worth checking their catalog or contacting them directly to confirm the matching CPU fan part number.
Let us know if you need help with disassembly steps or thermal paste recommendations during the swap.
