Re: Aspire 3 Problem with a Shift f5 shortcut I use
The Acer Aspire 3 laptop (it would help if you told us the exact model #? Like A315-xx) as the Acer laptops have totally different features to what HP laptops do, they are not the same! Press the F5 key only NOT the Shift key. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
The below Hotkeys chart, is the Acer Aspire default Hotkeys, so expect your whatever model your Aspire 3 is, to be the same.

Re: Battery backup decreased suddenly, battery report shows reduced design capacity
Hi @rajanshu , thanks for sharing your battery report.
🧪 Based on the details, your battery’s full charge capacity has dropped to ~7,623 mWh from the original 52,976 mWh — that’s roughly 14% of its design capacity, which strongly suggests the battery is near the end of its usable life.
🔧 Here’s what you can try before deciding on a replacement:
- Update Your BIOS Visit the official Acer support page for your model and download BIOS version V1.55, released in October 2024. This may fix inaccurate battery reporting or improve charge behavior if it was limited by older firmware.
- Reset the Embedded Controller (EC) After updating BIOS:
- Shut down the laptop
- Unplug from power and, if possible, remove the battery
- Hold the power button for 30 seconds
- Reconnect and restart
- Check if Charging Behavior Improves Sometimes, the EC reset and BIOS update can reinitialize the charge thresholds. But realistically, with less than 20% capacity left, the battery is severely degraded.
💡 Final option: If these steps don’t help, replacing the battery is the best path forward.
Let us know how it goes or if you need help locating a compatible replacement battery!

Re: Can't find BIOS update for Predator Helios Neo 16, Acer website not recognizing serial Number
Hi alien8girl
Look at the back of your laptop if you have the PHN16-71 or PHN16-72 model, go to the Acer Support site for your model and download Bios version 1.18 for PHN16-71 (Acer server is down at the moment, try again later) or version 1.17 for PHN16-72 (server is working). Forget about entering the SNID, just use the model number to download drivers etc.
