Since the colored stripes also appear in BIOS, this points to a hardware‑level issue rather than Windows or driver corruption.
- Test with an external display
- Connect an external monitor or TV via HDMI.
- If the external display is clear, the GPU is fine and the issue is likely between the motherboard and the built‑in panel.
- Check the eDP cable and panel connection
- A loose, pinched, or damaged eDP cable can cause persistent lines/stripes.
- If you’re comfortable opening the laptop, reseat the eDP connector at both the motherboard and panel ends, and inspect the cable for kinks or damage.
- If under warranty, have Acer service perform this check to avoid voiding coverage.
If the stripes appear on both the internal and external displays, the fault is likely with the GPU or motherboard and will require board‑level service.
