A new RTC/CMOS battery is worth trying, as a weak or dead one can prevent POST on older systems. While you wait for the CPU, you could also check a few other angles:

• Disconnect the main battery and AC, hold the power button for 30 seconds to fully discharge, then try powering on with AC only
• Remove all RAM sticks and test with one module at a time in each slot
• Disconnect the hard drive and any non‑essential peripherals to rule out a short or device hang
• Inspect the DC jack and power rail for any looseness or damage
• Reseat the existing CPU and GPU (if removable) and check for bent pins or debris
• Try an external monitor in case the internal panel or cable has failed
• If available, test with a known‑good AC adapter of the correct rating

These steps can help isolate whether the fault is power, memory, display, or board‑level before the new parts arrive.
