Re: Kernel power (41) automatic restart in Nitro v15 anv15-41-R8G0. Restarting by on its own, Why does that happen?
Hello riteshhhghhksdfhks
BIOS version 1.20 (Nov 2025) for the ANV15‑41 updates the Embedded Controller (EC). This is important if you’re running Windows 11 25H2 build 26200.8037, because it prevents BSODs tied to power management. I highly recommend updating to this BIOS version to stabilize your system.
Also, disable Optimization‑Calibration and the 80% battery charge limiting options in NitroSense, since these “features” interfere with the Windows 11 25H2 Modern Standby protocol.

Re: Kernel power (41) automatic restart in Nitro v15 anv15-41-R8G0. Restarting by on its own, Why does that happen?
Hi Ritesh,
The Kernel Power (41) (63) error in the Acer Nitro V15 ANV15-41 is a common issue often triggered by unexpected power loss or abrupt shutdowns, frequently occurring during high-load tasks like gaming, or even randomly while idle.
For this specific model, this issue is generally linked to power delivery instability, BIOS bugs, or driver incompatibilities, particularly with AMD systems.
Immediate Troubleshooting Steps (Commonly Successful)
Perform an Embedded Controller (EC) Reset: Turn off the laptop, unplug the charger, and hold the power button for 15–30 seconds to clear internal power glitches.
Disable Windows Fast Startup: Go to Control Panel > Power Options > "Choose what the power buttons do," click "Change settings that are currently unavailable," and uncheck "Turn on fast startup".
Update BIOS and Drivers: Ensure your BIOS is updated, but be cautious of specific versions like 1.20, which have been reported to cause shutdowns in this model. Update chipset drivers, especially AMD chipset drivers.
Set Power Management in BIOS: Enter BIOS (F2) and consider changing processor energy settings from "Auto" to "Best Performance".
Known Issues with ANV15-41:-
BIOS 1.20 Bugs: Users have reported that BIOS 1.20 causes random shutdowns and potential Windows corruption. Rolling back to a more stable version, such as 1.17, or updating to a newer stable release is advised.
AMD Driver Conflict: The external monitor on this laptop runs via the NVIDIA GPU, and using stock AMD drivers can cause instability. Users recommend using the official AMD driver installer rather than Windows Update for chipset drivers.
Virtualization/BSOD: Some users report that disabling virtualization features in BIOS can help if crashes are accompanied by "driver power state failure".
Advanced Troubleshooting
Throttle CPU Boosting: Set the "Maximum processor state" to 99% in Windows Power Options to prevent over-boosting and heat-related shutdowns.
Run System Scans: Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /f /r to repair system file corruption.
DDU Reinstallation: Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to clean-install NVIDIA drivers, as "D3D device removed" errors can occur.
If these steps do not work, the issue may be a faulty motherboard or power adapter (AC adapter), which may require warranty service.

Re: Helios Neo 16S AI -battery does not hold a charge
Hello @stedff,
Since your Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI is only three months old, this issue is likely either a software glitch or a hardware defect covered under your manufacturer's warranty.
- Perform a Software Battery Reset.
This is the most common fix for Predator Helios Neo models that stop charging or holding a charge. Newer models often do not have a physical pinhole on the bottom, so you must use the power button method.
Unplug the AC power adapter and all other peripherals.
Press and hold the Power button for a full 60 seconds. This drains static electricity and resets the internal battery controller.
Plug the adapter back in and wait for the charging LED to turn a steady blue before powering it on.
- Run a Battery Health Report.
Before contacting support, check if the battery has physically degraded.
Open the Command Prompt as an Administrator.
Type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter.
Open the generated HTML file (usually in C:\Users[YourUsername]\battery-report.html).
Compare Design Capacity to Full Charge Capacity. If the Full Charge Capacity is significantly lower (e.g., more than 10–20% drop in 3 months), the battery is likely faulty and requires replacement.
- Check Acer Predator Sense Settings.
The Predator series includes software that can intentionally limit charging to preserve long-term health.
Open the Acer Predator Sense (or Acer Care Center) app.
Check for a Battery Charge Limit or "80% Limit" setting. If this is on, your laptop will stop charging at 80%.
Try running the Battery Calibration tool within the app. This process can take 5–15 hours and involves a full charge-discharge cycle while plugged in.
- Update BIOS and Drivers.
Outdated firmware can cause power management conflicts.
Visit the Acer Support Page and enter your SNID to find the latest BIOS update (Version 1.18 or later is often recommended for Neo 16 models).
In Device Manager, expand "Batteries," right-click and uninstall both "Microsoft AC Adapter" and "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery," then restart the laptop to let Windows reinstall them.
- Warranty Claim.
If these steps don't work, do not open the laptop yourself, as it may void your warranty. Since the device is only 3 months old, you should Contact Acer Support to initiate a "Repair under warranty" ticket.
