Re: PHN16-72-Is the battery calibration worth it?
No, just once every 3-4 months, drain your laptop battery from 100% to 5%, then recharge it to 100% and continue using it while plugged in.
Additional info you may need:
Gaming laptops are completely safe to remain connected to the power source once they reach 100% charge. Gaming laptops such as Nitro Series and predator Series come with a battery management system that bypasses the battery by supplying power to the laptop directly from the charger if it has already been fully charged.
It is recommended to keep the battery at 100% and plugged in for optimal battery health. Lithium-ion batteries have a limited number of charge cycles, so frequent discharging and recharging reduces their lifespan faster. Users who want to run the laptop on battery power can do so, but should not do it frequently and must avoid letting the charge drop below 20%. Some people also perform battery calibration, draining from 100% to 5%, then recharging to 100% and continuing use, once every three months to maintain accuracy.
Re: PHN16-72-Is the battery calibration worth it?
Hello kbruff2026,
“Battery calibration” is a misnomer. What it actually refers to is the one full charge cycle required only once after a new battery is installed or after Windows has been reinstalled/reset. This cycle registers the full charge capacity in BIOS and the Microsoft ACPI Battery protocol.
- On a new laptop, Acer already performs this cycle at the factory, so it’s not needed.
- I don’t recommend using Acer Care Center or PredatorSense “Calibration/Optimization/80% charge limiting” features — they don’t extend battery life and can interfere with ACPI drivers.
If you reinstall the battery or upgrade Windows, here’s the correct one‑time procedure:
- Disable Fast Startup in Windows Power Options.
- Update BIOS if available.
- Charge the battery to 100% and wait an extra 10 minutes.
- Unplug the adapter and use the laptop until it shuts down on its own (do not suspend or manually power off).
- Close the lid — data will be safe.
- Plug in the adapter and charge until the amber LED turns blue, then wait a few minutes.
- Boot back into Windows.
That’s it.

Re: What causes performance drops over time without heavy usage?
Top Likely Causes
- Thermal Throttling (Hardware): Laptops accumulate heat over time. As components (CPU/GPU) reach high temperatures, they reduce their clock speed to prevent damage, causing sluggishness.
- Memory Leaks (Software): A program or driver might not be releasing memory back to the system, causing RAM usage to slowly grow over hours until the system uses the much slower storage drive as virtual memory.
- Background Maintenance Tasks: Windows often triggers updates, security scans (Windows Defender), or file indexing when the system is idle or has been on for a while.

Aspire lite 14-51M - connection port not working
After I dealt with the issue of this laptop not turning on, I found that almost all the ports not working when connecting other devices (3x USB, headphone jack, HDMI), but the charging port works normally with an OTG hub. its can fix myself or big problem ?
Re: ANV16S-71 (RTX 5060) battery drain under load - 135W power limit and hybrid power behavior
No, the EC likely not treat the barrel jack and USB‑C PD rail as parallel, additive power sources; the system is effectively “single‑rail” constrained by the 135 W ceiling. This battery drain issue is present in almost all Nitro V laptops and that's why I personally don't recommend them to high end gamers.
While no true fix exits. Some things you can try to lower it and make laptop last longer:
- Disable the keyboard/mouse backlight if it supports it, or if you are using an RGB External mouse keyboard.
- Follow step 4 in the guide below and undervolt your laptop GPU to the lowest stable voltage. This will reduce power consumption without affecting performance.
https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/724763/ultimate-laptop-cooling-optimization--guide.
Also, for further power reduction, step 1 is good as well. And step 3 is very helpful. Try them as mentioned for minimal performance impact but greatly reduced power consumption.
Re: Persistent random shutdowns on Predator Helios 16 PH16-73-98V3 – Unresolved by RMA
Hi! Sorry to hear that. My situation was similar: after 2 failed RMAs, I had to send several PECs (a formal legal email used in Italy) to prove my point.
I demonstrated that their standard synthetic tests are useless for replicating issues caused by rapidly shifting workloads. I also pointed out that their labs aren't equipped to replicate my specific setup (4K@120Hz with HDR and G-Sync), even though the 18" model (PH18-73) uses the exact same hardware to drive those specs natively.
In the end, following my request for a full refund, they offered a brand new replacement unit (from a different batch). Since I bought it in January, I’ve only had the laptop for about 35 days, while Acer has had it for 51 days total.
If the issue persists on the new machine, I’ll have to laugh, as it would confirm my initial suspicion of a fundamental VRM or EC firmware engineering flaw. I truly hope I'm wrong and that it was just a defective batch.
Out of curiosity, is your unit's production date December 2025 like mine?
Re: PO5-640 - PredatorSense not working after Windows 11 update (ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR)
Which model? How does predator sense behave?
Re: PO5-640 - PredatorSense not working after Windows 11 update (ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR)
The ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR typically means your browser’s communication settings are out of sync with the website's server. To bypass this immediately without fixing the browser, try opening the Acer support page in a different browser like Microsoft Edge or Firefox, or use an Incognito window by pressing Ctrl, Shift, and N at the same time.
If you prefer to stay in your current browser, you can force a fresh connection by performing a hard refresh. Go to the page that is failing and hold down the Ctrl key while pressing F5. This tells the browser to ignore its saved data and pull a completely new version of the website from the server.
Another common cause for this specific error is an incorrect date or time on your computer. Because security certificates rely on precise timing, being even a few minutes off can block your access. Right-click the clock in your taskbar, select Adjust date/time, and click the Sync now button to ensure your system is accurate..
If the main US site still refuses to load, you can often reach the same files through a different regional server. Try visiting the Acer Global or Acer UK support pages instead. These sites host the exact same driver files but use different local servers which might not trigger the protocol error you are currently experiencing.
Once you regain access, you can find your PredatorSense software or audio drivers by searching for your specific model number instead of the serial number.

Re: PO5-640 - PredatorSense not working after Windows 11 update (ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR)
Hello @PiramideStudio,
The ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR on the Acer support site is a known issue often related to browser conflicts, corrupted cookies, or server-side communication glitches. While the site is generally functional, it can frequently "break" for individual users.
Immediate Fixes for the Support Site:
If you need to access Acer Drivers and Manuals immediately, try these steps:
- Switch Browsers: This error is most common on Google Chrome. Try using Microsoft Edge or Firefox instead, as users report high success rates there.
- Use Incognito Mode: Press Ctrl + Shift + N (Chrome/Edge) to open a private window. This bypasses cached data and extensions that might be causing the protocol error.
- Clear Acer-Specific Cookies: You don't have to clear your entire history. Go to your browser settings, search for "Cookies," and specifically delete only the cookies for acer.com. Many users find that once the site saves a "bad" cookie, it stops working until that cookie is removed.
- Disable Extensions: Security or ad-blocking extensions can sometimes interfere with the HTTP/2 protocol. Temporarily disable them and reload the page.
- Hard Refresh: While on the support page, press Ctrl + F5 to force a complete reload of the page from the server, bypassing your local cache.
Alternative Ways to Get Your Drivers:
If the website still won't load, you can find your drivers through these built-in tools:
- Acer Care Center: Search your Start menu for Acer Care Center. Under the Update tab, you can check for and install driver updates directly without using a browser.
- Windows Update: Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates. Often, Acer-specific drivers are listed there under "Driver updates".
