Re: Where is the Eject Button for DVD Drawer in Aspire 1785? Trying to use the DVD drive to upload a CD but there is no eject button.
Hello Kurt
On the Acer Aspire 1785 series desktops, the front panel that looks like a DVD drive bay is actually a dummy cover. Acer designed the chassis with a slot for an optical disc drive (ODD), but most configurations ship without a drive installed. That’s why you don’t see an eject button or feel any mechanical release—the surface is smooth because there’s no hardware behind it.
If you want to use CDs or DVDs, you can install a standard 5.25" SATA optical drive in that bay. The case supports it, but you’ll need to purchase the drive separately and connect it to the motherboard’s SATA port and power supply.
So in short: unless you’ve added one yourself, the Aspire 1785 only has a dummy ODD panel, not a functional DVD drawer.

Re: Black screen issue a few minutes after startup on my Nitro 16 AN16-51 laptop
If your Nitro 16 AN16-51 shows a black screen after startup, first try Win + Ctrl + Shift + B to reset the graphics driver. If that fails, boot into Safe Mode and uninstall both Intel Iris Xe and NVIDIA drivers, then restart to let Windows reinstall them. Disable Fast Startup in Power Options. Make sure BIOS and drivers are updated from Acer’s support site. If the issue continues, test with an external monitor or check for hardware problems like loose cables or panel failure, as persistent black screens may require service.
Re: Black screen issue a few minutes after startup on my Nitro 16 AN16-51 laptop
Hi Yusufcuk,
Black screen issues on the Nitro 16 (AN16-51) shortly after startup are often caused by graphics driver conflicts (NVIDIA/AMD) or faulty BIOS firmware. Fix this by updating drivers via the Acer support page, performing a static discharge (holding power for 30-60s), or using Win+Ctrl+Shift+B to reset the display. If the screen remains black, it may indicate a hardware issue requiring service.
Immediate Fixes:-
Graphics Driver Reset: Press Windows Key + Ctrl + Shift + B simultaneously to wake the display.
Force Restart: Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds to shut down, then turn it back on.
Pinhole Reset: If the issue persists, use a paperclip to hold the battery reset pinhole on the bottom for 15-20 seconds.
Software Fixes:-
Update/Reinstall Drivers: Perform a clean installation of the latest NVIDIA and AMD drivers (specifically the chipset driver) from the Acer support site.
Update BIOS: Check for BIOS updates to resolve potential firmware-related display failures.
Disable Fast Startup: Disable this in Windows Power Options, as it can cause resume-from-hibernation issues.
External Monitor: Connect to an external display to determine if the issue is with the laptop panel or the GPU.
Check Backlight: Shine a light at the screen; if you see faint images, the backlight has failed.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be a hardware defect requiring service, such as a loose cable or, in some reported cases, a motherboard failure.

Re: Black screen issue a few minutes after startup on my Nitro 16 AN16-51 laptop
When the black screen appears, pressing Win + Ctrl + Shift + B should refresh the graphics driver. Since you mentioned that doesn’t work, the next step is to boot into Safe Mode, open Device Manager, and uninstall the graphics drivers under Display adapters. On restart, Windows will automatically reinstall compatible drivers. This often resolves conflicts between the Intel Iris Xe and NVIDIA RTX drivers.
Another common fix is to disable Fast Startup in Windows Power Options. Fast Startup can cause boot conflicts where the system doesn’t initialize the GPU properly, leading to the black screen on first boot.
If the issue persists, check Acer’s support site for a BIOS update. Sometimes stability issues are patched in later BIOS releases. Also, ensure drivers are updated directly from Acer’s support page.

Re: Acer notebook AV15-51-Audio stopped working after BIOS update on Acer notebook
Hello @AdrianoDias,
This issue is common on Acer Aspire Vero (AV15-51) models after a BIOS update because the update can sometimes corrupt the link between the Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) controller and the Realtek audio hardware.
If standard driver reinstallation hasn't worked, try these specific advanced steps:
- Reset BIOS to Factory Defaults.
Sometimes the BIOS "Enabled" state is visually active but not functionally applied.
Restart and tap F2 to enter BIOS.
Press F9 to "Load Setup Defaults" and then Enter.
Press F10 to "Save and Exit".
- Update the Intel SST Controller.
The Realtek driver often won't work if the Intel SST controller is stuck or using an incompatible driver.
Right-click Start > Device Manager.
Expand System Devices (not Sound, video and game controllers).
Look for Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller.
Right-click it and select Update driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list....
Select High-Definition Audio Controller instead of the SST one and click Next. This can often bypass the SST bug and restore basic audio functionality.
- Clean Install of "Hidden" Drivers.
If the audio device is missing entirely from Device Manager:
In Device Manager, go to View > Show hidden devices.
Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
Right-click and uninstall every item under this section, checking the box to "Attempt to remove the driver for this device" if prompted.
Restart your laptop. Windows will attempt to re-detect the hardware at a low level.
- Check for Intel Chipset and Serial IO Drivers.
The audio hardware relies on the Intel Chipset and Serial IO drivers to communicate with the CPU.
Go to the Acer Support Site.
Download and install the Chipset and Serial IO drivers for the AV15-51 before attempting to reinstall the Realtek Audio driver again.
If none of this work, some users have found that draining the static helps: Shut down, unplug the AC adapter, and press/hold the Power button for 30 seconds to reset the internal hardware state.

Re: Acer Aspire 5 (A515-56G)-Trouble checking NBAD Bank balance on my Acer laptop?..
Hi Lotusr,
To fix NBAD Bank login issues on your Acer Aspire 5 (A515-56G) using Chrome, clear your cache/cookies, disable extensions (especially adblockers), and verify your system date/time. If issues persist, try logging in via Incognito mode, switch to Microsoft Edge/Firefox, or flush your DNS using ipconfig /flushdns in the command prompt.
Quick-Fix Actions:-
Try Incognito Mode: Press Ctrl+Shift+N in Chrome to open a private window and try logging in. This ignores extensions and cookies that might be blocking the site.
Disable Extensions: Type chrome://extensions in your address bar and toggle off all extensions to see if one is causing the conflict.
Clear Browser Data: Go to Chrome Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear Browsing Data (select "Cookies" and "Cached images").
Check Time/Date: Ensure your Windows 11 time/date is correct. Incorrect system time can break SSL security certificates used by banks.
Use Another Browser: If Chrome fails, try accessing the bank through Microsoft Edge or Firefox, as suggested for Acer Aspire laptops.
If you are using a VPN, turn it off temporarily, as banks often block VPN IP addresses for security reasons.

Re: Acer Aspire 5 (A515-56G)-Trouble checking NBAD Bank balance on my Acer laptop?..
Your issue is likely due to browser compatibility, not your laptop RAM. Try using Firefox or Edge, clear your cache, disable extensions, and make sure Windows 11 and your browser are updated.
If you just need to check your balance quickly, you can use the NBAD Bank Balance Inquiry service online.
Re: TC-805-UA92 lost internet connection ?
Hello @Larryodie,
It sounds like you hit a classic Windows 11 "stuck" network state. The fact that a Safe Mode repair fixed it strongly suggests this was a software or driver conflict rather than a hardware failure.
Why Safe Mode Fixed It.
When you ran the diagnose and repair in Safe Mode, Windows likely:
Reset the Network Stack: Cleared corrupted TCP/IP or Winsock settings that standard mode couldn't touch.
Refreshed the Driver: Safe Mode uses a minimal set of drivers. Rebooting back to normal often forces Windows to re-initialize the full Wi-Fi driver from a clean state.
Cleared Power States: Your "unplug and hold power" trick (a hard flea power drain) is a great move; it clears the Wi-Fi card's volatile memory, which can sometimes get stuck in a "down" state.
Should You Buy a Spare?
You likely don't need to buy a new board yet. Wi-Fi cards rarely fail partially; they usually either work or they don't. Since it’s working fine now, the hardware is almost certainly healthy.
What you should do instead:
Reseat the Card (Desktop Only): If you have a physical PCIe Wi-Fi card (with antennas on the back), reseating it can prevent future issues caused by thermal expansion or dust.
Disable Power Saving: This is the #1 cause of Windows 11 Wi-Fi drops.
In Device Manager, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties > Power Management > uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
Keep that USB Driver: You were smart to download the driver to a USB. Keep it there as a "rainy day" tool so you don't have to use a second computer next time.
If the connection starts dropping frequently despite these settings, then consider a $20–$30 Intel AX210 card for a more reliable hardware upgrade.
