Re: AcerSense fails to Install on SFG16-71, Quick Access missing, how to restore fan control?
- Appreciate the detailed post, mercilessinstaller.
- First, if you're on the SFG16-71, make sure your BIOS is updated to version 1.11 dated 2025/07/15. That version includes EC refinements that may help stabilize fan behavior.
- Second, uninstalling Acer firmware components like the UWP driver or embedded controller interface won’t stick—they’re auto-reinstalled on reboot via Windows Update or the system’s recovery hooks.
- The fan curve defaulting to 100% without QuickAccess or AcerSense is tied to how the EC interprets missing control signals. It’s not ideal, but it’s consistent across units.
- AcerSense is still being rolled out, and compatibility issues with newer Windows builds are known. If the installer says “model not supported,” it’s likely due to OS version mismatch.
- For now, the best workaround is to reinstall QuickAccess from a verified mirror or use third-party fan control tools with caution.
- I agree the bloatware ecosystem is messy, but some components are unfortunately tied to hardware-level behavior. Until Acer decouples fan control from software, full removal isn’t viable.
