Kann jemand anderes das beantworten? Mein Bildschirm ist eine Stufe unter 4K, und das geht problemlos mit Displayport-to-HDMI-Adapter.

Apparently the problem is solved. I report it here just in case somebody else has the same experience. I believe that the problem was caused by a combination of a defect in the laptop, probably in the ACPI code, and my charging habits. I charged it only to 60%. At one time apparently the percentage calibration was shifted…

If you could see how the laptop is stowed behind the big screen when I'm not travelling, you would understand why I hesitated before doing it, apart from the general skepticism towards strange-sounding advice. Sometimes you get weird instructions in forums like this and have to decide whether they are reasonable or not.…

I think this makes sense, because the battery needs cell balancing anyway, which is usually done by electronics in the battery box. I have two VN7-592G laptops, so the next thing I will try is to swap the batteries and check whether the problem follows the battery. The next thing I will find is probably that batteries are…

Rockeraocao wrote: "Try tighten the screws on the bottom of the laptop." Why do you think that could possibly help? Sounds a bit unlikely to me. Have you had any such experience? Meanwhile I noticed that the battery percentage changes only in big jumps on my problem computer. For example, when I charge it fully, then stop…

No, the percentages are set to 5% and 10%, which, I think, are the defaults. You could have known this from my first posting, because I had explained that the computer switches off, instead of going into energy saving or hibernation. In fact, there is no option to tell the computer to shut down. Sensibly, there is only…

High time to report the latest status. I bought a new adapter: Cable Matters® USB 3.1 Type C (USB-C) auf HDMI Adapter Schwarz [Cable Matters® USB 3.1 Type C (USB-C) to HDMI adapter black], and it works fine. It is a stupid workaround for a dysfunctional HDMI connection, but what can I do? I will test from time to time…

The web page http://www.acer.com/ac/de/DE/content/support-product/6403;-;Aspire%20VN7-592G shows at least one driver that I cannot locate on my Aspire VN7-592G: OthersIntelThunderbolt Driver10.1.1.951.9 MB2015/10/20 Where does it hide? How can I determine which driver version I have installed?

Thanks, that makes sense. Have you found any convenient way to find out which drivers are not up to date and need updating? On my computer the AcerCareCenterLiveUpdater.exe that is offered on the web page refuses to work, possibly because I have upgraded to Windows 10 Professional.

I have now tried a Cable Matters USB-3.1-to-HDMI adapter that supports solutions up to 4K, and this is a viable workaround. It is a pity that such a workaround is needed, but I have found no other good way, short of returning the laptop.

Oops, sorry, it is an Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition VN7-792G. (Why does Acer not write the computer type on the computer where everybody can see it?)

I have bought a USB-C-to-Displayport adapter made by Aukey and sold through Amazon and tested it. It does not work at all. I have never seen anything on the monitor. The one recommended above was not available here (in Germany).

That did not make any difference, and why should it? It is a 60 Hz monitor. I wonder why a 59 Hz setting exists at all.

Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 Intel Corporation 2015-08-24 10.18.15.4279 Probably installed by Acer support software. I ran it to try to get the latest for this computer. p.s. I just tried the Intel Driver Update Utility. It does not show any newer updates, so I guess I have the latest driver installed.

IronFly wrote:can be a sort of compatibility issue between laptop and monitor or a monitor issue, to narrow the issue, i would connect the samsung to another PC and check wake up. Seems like it. Another computer did not have this problem with this monitor. (And, as already reported earlier, another monitor did not have…

Thanks! Will try as quickly as possible and report back then. While I'm at it, does this mean that the USB Type C port is then blocked for any other uses or are there also hub-like adapters that allow multiple simultaneous uses of the port? Edit: Is it perhaps possible to put a USB-C hub in between the computer and the…

Thank you for your very quick reply, and I apologize for my slow one. Too busy these days. First a more precise specification. The laptop is an Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro (VN7-592G-79U3) and the monitor is a Samsung S32D850T. I just tested the laptop on a Yamaha AV receiver connected to a projector, also through HDMI. The…
