My SF315-52G with Win 10 Pro works perfect with VirtualBox 6, i use it every day.

OK, thanks a lot for the info about the 970 Evo. Received it, cloned my old 256GB M.2 SSD to the 970 Evo M.2 SSD and it works. Great, now i have space on SSD for my virtual machines. Next step would be to get rid of this 1TB 2.5" HDD and place a SSD, but that looks not possible.

I have a very old 64GB SSD which is the only 2.5" SSD which works. So cable is not the problem. But that one is not a good alternative :)

I bought exact this 1TB Crucial and it does not work. I will see, tomorrow the Samsung 970 Evo will arrive. If i am lucky i have then 1TB SSD instead of 256MB. Next step would be to change the very very slow 2.5" HDD to a SSD, but the Samsung 850 Evo 2TB does not work.

@egydiocoelho This is my chipset list:

OK, so that means that the Samsung 970 1TB should work. I will give it this one LAST try, i wasted now almost 1000 EUR with harddiscs (my fault i was always too late to send them back).
-
I have this Drive Model: HFS256G39TND-N210A This was delivered with the SF315-52G So they use what they have in stock or which is cheaper, not what has the best performance.
-
OK so we have the same problem. Dont do the same fault like i did and buy 10 different SSDs, i have it all here and wasted so much money, i could also buy a high quality laptop :) Next time i'll do that from the begin ;)

Any Updates here? I still have the same problem with a lot of SSD's (2.5" and M.2). Nothing works. Every SSD (2.5 or M.2) i plug in stucks at the Acer logo and no Bios entry is possible, even if i delete (fill with zero) the drives.
-
Hi, please let me / us know which SSD you plug in and if it works, i can still get no other (larger) SSD running, HDD and M.2 Thanks
-
Yes and the other customer with the same issue returned the laptop because there was no solution. As i said before, i tested all bios settings, i wasted days on that problem. I know that the spec say it does not support 1TB M.2 but i tested it because Crucial says it will work. But when you read again, i also tested 512GB…

OK, so i tested with removing the rtc battery for some minutes as well as the laptop battery. No change, even Acer logo does not appear as soon as one of these bigger HDDs are plugged in. Keyboard backlight works but nothing happens.
-
I am not 100% sure if i did this. I think yes, but what is the difference removing this battery to settings Bios to default? I will check doing that later. Laptop is still without screws because of the hope to get a solution :)

Crucial MX500 SSD 1TB M.2 Micron 3D TLC SATA600 850 EVO SATA III 2.5" SSD MZ-75E2T0B/EU 850 EVO M.2 SATA III SSD MZ-N5E500BW Samsung SM951 512GB - Solid State Drives (SSD) (M.2) (Not 100% sure about the last one, should be this one but can be another Nvme M.2 from Samsung with about 500GB)

Yes i tested that. Disconnected the battery and pressed the button for battery disconnect. All modes / constellations in bios have been tested. This is a very strange situation because it just does not work any new larger harddisks. I could not see any damage (why i should send in my laptop to service) because the ports…
-
Yes i tested all bios settings, safe mode and so on. Even our "IT-Expert" at my job does not have any idea.
-
Yes, everything. Removed one OEM Hdd and a new one, removed the other one, and so on. I can enter the Bios even if no HDD is connected, but as soon as i plug in one of these HDDs it freeze at the Acer Logo, not able to enter the BIOS. I tried a very old 64GB SSD and this one works.
