ELAN touchpad not disabled when external mouse is added and computer is restarted.

Because the ELAN touchpad was over-senitive (cursor jumped about), I installed an external mouse. I checked the box on the ElAN tab of the mouse device page and pressed the Apply button and it all worked beautifully. The cursors didn't jump about, just responded to the external mouse.

But every time I restart my laptop, I have to go through the process again, as follows:

1. Start> Device and Printers > Left-click on laptop and choose Mouse settings

2. Choose ELAN. Uncheck above-described box and press Apply.

3. Check above-described box and press Apply.

4. Close these windows and continue.

This it too much to go through. Any solutions?

    Hi lloyde1200,

You can check the users guide for your Acer product, nearly all have a shortcut to enable/disable the touchpad. If you have trouble, provide us with your model and lets see how we can help.
