The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User Profile cannot be loaded - ICONIA W3810

We have a Acer Tablet - ICANOIA W3810. We are not able to use our Acer Tablet anymore. The two profiles appearing after Power Up both are producing the message of The User Profile Service service failed the logon. We are not sure how to Safeboot with the built-in Administrator Account since we can't even login to the device with the Guest Profile.

Pressing Power and Windows Buttons together brings up Recovery Screen with message 'A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed.'. At time of purchase we received no USBs or any other media for this device.

Please tell us how we can create a new User Profile in order to be able to use this Tablet again.

Thank you in advance!

Have you tried the help from Microsoft on corrupted profiles?

Re: The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User Profile cannot be loaded - ICONIA W38

Thank you for your reply.  We appreciate you helping out.

The link you provided talks about logging in before anything can be done.  This standalone Tablet (not part of domain/workgroup) has the Guest Account producing this same message.  We cannot login with any account.  Safeboot to my understanding requires one to first login and prepare the Tablet so that at next Startup it'll drop into Safeboot menu.

Only other thing I can think of is to boot from an external device in order to be able to access the hard disk which has the corrupted Profiles.  Does Acer provide an external bootable device to boot from?

Re: The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User Profile cannot be loaded - ICONIA W38

i'm not positive, but I think the W3-810 has the newer style UEFI boot, so booting from an external device isn't all that straight forward. Better is to boot into the Windows preboot environment and choosing reset to clean up the Windows install, then create a new user. You loose anything you have in the way of data, but you'll at least be up and running. Since you can't log in you'll probably find it easiest to connect a USB keyboard (takes an adapter). From the login screen there is a power icon that you can use to shutdown or restart the tablet. If you hold down the shift key and ask for a restart it will start up with the preboot environment that allows you to repair, refreash or reset the OS.

Re: The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User Profile cannot be loaded - ICONIA W38

Thank you.  Trying to Reset PC as you suggested prompts for Recovery Media.  Nothing came with this Tablet so I guess I would have to order from Acer?

I am able to get to Command Prompt from Pre Boot Menu's Troubleshoot followed by Advanced options followed by Command Prompt.  But running REGEDIT there doesn't seem to help as any new users added are wiped out when Tablet is restarted.

I am able to get to SafeBoot Menu by using Pre Boot Menu's Troubleshoot followed by Advanced options followed by Startup Settings.  But when SafeBoot menu comes up it has listed of 9 options and talks about function keys.  I don't have a keyboard - can the volume/power/windows keys be used to input option 4 to Enable Safe Mode?

Re: The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User Profile cannot be loaded - ICONIA W38

Hello again,

I contacted Acer today and they tell me for my device they do offer Recovery Media but it is only available in DVD form.  The Tablet only seems to have micro USB slot and micro storage slot.  Acer is saying it's not our problem that Recovery Media is on DVD but the Tablet they manufactured doesn't have DVD built-in.  Any suggestions on most economical option to use Recovery Media provided by Acer?

I've read that the recovery media from acer doesn't work properly. Assuming for the sake of your question that it does work, you would need to transfer the recovery media to a usb drive and use it along with a micro usb host adapter.

Or connect a powered USB hub and a USB DVD drive...
