"I was going to change my ASUS T100 (connection pb btween screen and dock) for an ACER SWITCH ... I prefer the Acer clearer screen, larger screen/dock angle (better to work outside which is a pb with the ASUS) and aluminum look (instead of the glossy black ASUS)"
Since my last post, I disabled the narrator button (and I was very careful not to touch the volume and window buttons since they together set the narrator on). it didn't occur again but I only started it twice. So, I'm not optimitic. Other pb arised too : can't turn anymore from horizontal to vertical screen (don't know what to do about that) and when I wrote a post-it and wanted to scroll it, guess what, I found out I could write with my finger directly on the post-it. Not what I wanted, since any action was a scribble on the post-it wether I went up or down. (Don't know yet what to do). I'll call the shop tomorrow but I don't think they'll exchange it (again).

Thanks for that. I can't believe the amount of people on here, having the same problem all over the world, and there is no news of a fix. So I've bought the Asus T100 instead. Pathetic. I've used Acer a lot in the past but the way they've treated their customers here is nothing short of a disgrace. Won't be returning to Acer for quite a while.

The other day I noticed that my Switch 10 was warm when I picked it up when I believed it was in suspend mode after closing the tab/dock, then I peaked in between the tab and the keyboard dock and noticed the screen was on!?!
Then I opened it up and it was completely unresponsive, no touch screen, no touch pad, no keyboard, no power/volume keys. So the only thing I could do was to let the battery run out so it shut down and then charge it, then it worked like normal again.
Anyone else had this issue?

I had the same issue for about an hour after I setup my laptop. I then read about appling the latest DRIVER update from ACER. I went to the ACER web site: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers download and install this update. I have not had any issues with the volume and/or home button ever since.
When you get to the above web page select <NETBOOK><ASPIRE SWITCH 10>< then your model> in may case it was <APSIRE SW5-011>. Downloaded Master Installer V1.03 dated 2014/05/29. Installed it and rebooth the laptop. Volume returned to normal. Also, I applied all the available windows Fixes.
I hope this is really the fix, so far the problem has not returned.

After the update my Switch 10 worked as it should for a day or so. After that it reapeared and it keeps appearing randomly.
Has it been a few days since the update?

I have honestly not seen any real difference before and after Bios update, sometimes I get the issue right after a cold start and sometimes it takes days for it to appear.
The difference is that the windows button is less responsive when it works, after the Bios update.

I'm sorry to hear that, so far, I'm not having any issues, I have been playing with it since 7am this morning and nothing has gone wrong. As I said, the only thing I did was put on the Driver fix and all the windows 8.1 updates.
I'll post again in a few days. I figure I have 30days, if it comes back I'll return it and get the ASUS T100TA.
However, the number one reason for buying this ACER was the ability to flip the screen and put it on backwards. It would be ashame to have to send it back.

The problem retured after 2 days. But the one thing I noticed was it was working, then I turned on Bluetooth, and immediatelyt my volume key stop working correctly and it began activating the narrator.
I follow these instruction to get the volume controls to work again. I found this on another ACER form for the ACER Iconia W700. It appears forthis machine, activating Bluetooth caused the problem.

I believe I have a short term fix for those of us who contine to experience this annoying problem.
As has been discussed, the problem stems from the Bluetooth keyboard included with the computer. For some reason, it randomly activates a command involving the Windows key, which puts the computer in the annoying Narrator mode. OK before anyonw blows a fused... I know the switch 10 keyboard is not BT, but this did worked. Therefore, I beleive the issue is in the BT software and I further beleive, this software may be resetting the volume key functions. HERE are the instructions:
If ever you should find your computer to be in this Narrator mode, the first thing to do is to disable bluetooth on your computer. This can be done by accessing the settings charm (swipe in from right edge of screen) and selecting "change PC settings" (the bottommost option). Go to "PC and Devices", choose Bluetooth, and press the on/off switch. Restart your computer.
Next up, download any one of the windows 8 compatible windows key disablers that you can find with a quick google search. I use this to deactivate the windows key. Then I reboothed, all keys are working again.
You will need to make this a start up program, so that it runs automatically when the computer turns on. If the windows key is disabled, then the keyboard cannot turn on Narrator mode. I did not do the last 2 statments, you see here crossed out.
After reboothing the windows key was reactivated. I beleive this issue is being caused by the Bluetooth option. I will do some more testing later. But these instructions did return my setting for the volume key.
I hope this helps!
