That's why i decided to get my money back. C'mone everyone! Wake up once and for all!!
No driver has fixed the issue completely, for the moment!
Maybe you can get a more stable connection, or your speed won't drop so much, but as someone said, a $10 external wifi card works better than the one in the W700! That's not normal! The problems haven't been fixed, be realistic! accept that!
You can return your tablets or keep them, that's your business, but please, DO NOT SAY PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN SOLVED!
Yes, with some new drivers I got a stable connection, but speed really sucked when i was some meters away from the router, and that hasn't been fixed at all.
Acer, wake up, in some weeks Surface Pro will be on stores. If you give us a final solution, I will buy the W700 again, but if your solution hasn't arrived when the Surface is on stores, of course i will buy it, and I WILL RECOMMEND EVERYONE NOT TO BUY ANITHING RELATED TO ACER, for my whole life.
Message for all the futur users: DO NOT BUY ACER ICONIA W700!! THEY'RE HAVING SERIOUS ISSUES WITH THE WIFI, WHICH HAVEN'T BEEN SOLVED YET, despite what some people say.
Good luck to everyone.

I really wish I could disagree with you, but unfortunately everything you said is true...at least for me ![]()

Installed the 221 driver, ran speedtest.net with my iPad right next to the W700. Have a look. All test conditions are equal.

My W700 now wrks great and I have NO wifi issues!
I have had my W700 almost a week. When I first got it I deleted the old driver and installed the latest drivers from the Acer site. Like many others I had the problem where the device is strong close to the router but drops off quickly. However, others on this site have got it to work and suggested it was because we weren't deleting all the old drivers and related programs including bluetooth. I tried that and it didn't seem to be better. I tried it again and everything has been perfect for 2 days. My w-700 now is strong in the basement with the router 2 floors above. It wouldn't even connect in the basement before. My ipad barely connects. So I consider my W700 wifi issues now fixed.
I would love to tell you how I fixed it but I just followed the advice earlier and deleted a lot of bluetooth stuff - more than before. If I had known it was going to work I would have written each step down. However, don't give up. Go through the previous comments regarding deleting stuff and use them all. This doesn't mean Acer won't deliver even better drivers but 317 V3 has got my W700 outperforming my ipad as relates to wifi.

I should add I am at a remote location and all my testing has been on a router with NO security. I don't know if that matters. We are heading back to the city on Saturday so I will test it there with a security enabled router. So far so good.

If you can remember any other details about removing the old drivers, that would be helpful. When I uninstalled the Qualcomm drivers, I checked the box to remove all drivers. Then when I executed the setup.exe file in the new drivers, it asked if I wanted to repair or uninstall, which tells me not all drivers were removed. Maybe I can get to the bottom of this if I completely wipe out all drivers related to the Qualcomm wifi device and start fresh, though I'm not sure which to delete out of system32\drivers.

I deleted everything i found on the tablet, and it didn't work for me. I fixed the dropping issue, but not the speed one.
Have you run any speed test? I find rather hard to believe that when the signal is lower than 70% your speed keeps as fast as any other device.
Bye!

I just did the same and no better. The wifi works perfectly fine for about, say, 30 seconds. Then speeds crawl at around .5mbps and the tablet becomes unusable.
Unfortunately, I think I'd exhausted all options. I'm not willing to dedicate five+ hours a day to fixing a wifi issue. There are certain things that should work out of the box. Wifi is one of them.
I'm not calling anyone untruthful, but my tablet is defective. I don't care if I Read 10,000,000 reports of how the new driver solved their issue. Mine simply doesn't work as it should.

To completely uninstall the drivers, you need to go to Uninstall Program in Control panel and uninstall the Ahteros software. If after the clean installation and still no improvement, then you might have a hardware issue.

@girarcat: You are completely right, sir. That's why i sent my device back today.
And ppl please don't say you dont have problems anymore too hasty, please try it with different routers and not just 1 hour. I had a stable connection for about 3 days and suddenly the problems started again, no matter what driver i was using. On some routers it worked fine, but c'mon, this is a mobile device, you don't want to use that thing only on some types of routers. My 8 year old laptop never had such problems.
And even if Acer fixes the WiFi, the throttling issue still persists, and, much more important: the VERY BAD support issue, feat. Acer doesn't care.
Goodbye Acer, never wanna see your devices again.
(And that's sad because besides that it's a very gorgeous, well built device!)
