Disregard previous message. Found the problem; there was a switch on the external speakes that I had forgotten about. It was set to off. :-(

Have already downloaded the R2.79.
Everytime I plug in external speakers the internal speakers stop working and there is no sound from the external speakers. When using internal speakers at 100% volume is too low. I cannot use externasl speakers with Windows 10 on the Aspire 7740.
