Any help? Please

Thanks in advance

    pablo_plr,

If you have not performed the upgrade already, I would recommend that you go ahead and do so. I upgraded a S3-391 notebook that is not eligible and I did not have to download any drivers, it is working fine. It is ultimately up to you though, but Acer will not be posting any drivers since it is not an eligible model. Smiley Frustrated

You were right!, I've upgraded to Windows 10 Home, but I had some missing drivers problems (screen, ethernet and touchpad), but fortunately forcing the drivers updates from the Device Manager solved all the problems.

It's a shame when a manufacturer technically tells you: "screw you, you're alone in this", that's why I don't like Samsung smartphones, they abandon you so you have to purchase a new phone every year or you're left "obsolete".

So I have the Aspire M3970 as well. I applied for the Windows 10 upgrade, and it comes back saying I'm totally compatible. Install and any connection via the Internet to Micosoft programs (Edge, Search, Store, Windows update, etc.) doesn't work. Yet Chrome and Vista do work fine. Contact Microsoft and have a tech work on my system for a couple of hours and can't fix, then books an appointment for an escalated tech to work on it. He plays around for an hour tonight and then tells me that my computer doesn't have the drivers. Then...here is the kicker, I ask him to revert me back to Window 8.1 which you have 1 month to do so, and the message comes up that the files have been overwritten.

Now I'm being told by Acer that I'm not entitled for support, being told by Microsoft to wait for Acer to fix the drivers but the can install Windows 8.1 but I will lose my bought and paid for Office Professional 2010.

Is everybody just turnig a blind eye to customers for years to their products?

Well, after the upgrade I also had some driver issues (unkown devices or not working too well), so after the upgrade I download and execute a tool (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html) to retrieve my "new" Windows 10 license key, saved it and then downloaded a Windows 10 iso with the Windows Media Creation Tool (from the Microsoft site).

Once I had the iso I burnt it to a DVD and executed a clean installation and used my Windows 10 license key, this time I had less driver issues, only my screen was running with the default driver, but it got fixed by updating the driver within the Device Manager.

I hope this is useful to you.

Where drivers failed to work in Win 10, I have had good luck forcing the last driver released by Acer for that sytem but first I'd backup both a recovery drive and a system image just in case.

BTW when Win 10 upgrades it verifies the original license key (7 or 8) then issues a new Win 10 key. Best save both.

I upgraded my Aspire 5250-BZ455 to Windows 10...  I downloaded a Driver update utility too, helped some...

Also got Total System Care, which helped some too...  Still can't get my Ethernet to work, running Wi-Fi only, slooooow good...   Watched NCIS last night over Wi-Fi, P.U. it was slow...  everything else seems to run fine, 64-bit of course...  This laptop is only 3 yrs old, drat, all I need is a newer Lan Driver set that supports Ethernet, arg...

IIRC the 5250 uses an Atheros gigabit LAN port. You might try the Lenovo driver to see if they are using the same chipset.

I just came across what you said about saving License Keys for both Windows 8 and 10. I have the  original ACER CD set and I'd written on it a Product ID and a CD Key. Then under the Product ID I must have written long ago another number. Maybe that is one for Windows 10? I don't remember. How could I tell and if I don't have them, can I get them off my Aspire ZC-102 somehow while it is running?
