VN7-791G webcam does not work with Win10 app

After upgrading to Windows 10, in my VN-791G, the webcam does not work in the Windows 10 Camera app.

* The exact error message is in Swedish, but an approximate translation is "Something went wrong. Please check that the camera is plugged in, and that it is not used by another app." This is after I've closed down Skype (see below) btw.

* The camera works in Skype.

* Driver verion is "Microsoft HD Webcam" 10.0.10240.16384, the latest found through Windows update.

I cannot find any driver here in Acer's site.

    peterhjalmarsso,

My suggestion would be to remove the installed drivers and have them install again to see if that fixes it, it is clearly a driver issue since it works with another application. I also wonder if there may be an update for the camera application via the Windows store, possibly.

I have a similar problem after updating to win10 except that my webcam is not detected by the system at all and the only thing in the device manager that could be the webcam is a "legacy device 10.0.10240.16384"

The realsense camer driver from Acer's downloads will stop mid installation and say "failed to detect a realsense 3D camera" maybe I have a regular webcam but I still can't find any drivers for it. Do you know where I could find them? Thanks Smiley Happy

    kr33p0,

I am going to assume that this is the non-3D camera driver (direct download link):

Camera Intel Camera Driver 15.33.29.916 52.8 MB 2015/08/28

as this looks like it would be the 3D camera:

Camera Intel Camera Driver ( Depth Camera Manager) 1.4.27.32425 52.8 MB 2015/07/30

Unfortunately I get the same error message, I tried both available drivers on the Acer site before and they both seem to be for the 3D camera Smiley Sad any other ideas?

Try going to "Device Manager/System devices" and see if any device has camera in name. If so, update the driver using Search automatically.

    Still nothing doing.

The only device on my system that is unmarked and that could be a webcam is under system devices/legacy device driver microsoft 10.0.10240.16384 and updating the driver automatically says that "windows has determined software is up to date" Justing both the drivers on the download page, including the one you linked here, give the message that "failed to detect an intel realsense 3d camera on this system" any other way to manually install the driver? It seems not to detect the webcam at all and I reainstalled the chipset drivers in case that would help. I would be a shame to have to return this computer on a warranty repair because some hardware can't be detected.

    kr33p0,

Try removing the drivers for that piece of hardware and restarting to see if that gets an installation going that might resolve it.

What is the first ten characters of the serial number (only), if you could provide it, that way I can attempt to pull up some specifications for your system.

I updated win 10 today to some new preview build, don't rember the number, after it installed and the computer restarted it detected new hardware by itslef and installed the drivers for the webcam. So now it works after me looking for a solution for the past week...
