After upgrading my Acer 5742-6682 from Windows 7 to  Windows 10 the laptop no longer detects flash drives (USB 2 or 3). There is a sound when a drive is plugged into a port (all three ports act the same). In the device manager an unknown mass storage device is listed. The flash drive cannot be seen Computer or Windows Explorer. I started the machine from a Linux DVD and all flash drives were recognized and mounted without delay. I have tried Lexar, PNY, SanDisk, and Verbatim brand flash drives. The problem in Windows 10 is that the drives are not automatically recognized and installed. I can manually install them (a very annoying process).

Fire up Device Manager and see there any issues shown I'm guessing one of the USB hubs is having a friver problem.
